A woman ejected from a JoJo Siwa concert in Glasgow has said she was unaware the hoodie she wore was offensive, insisting she meant no harm. The incident occurred during Siwa's Infinity Heart Tour performance, when the singer paused the show after spotting a fan wearing a hoodie featuring her face superimposed onto an egg.
In 2022, Siwa revealed she had developed a bald spot due to stress from filming Dance Moms as a child, leading to cruel online memes about her hairline. Addressing the fan from the stage, she said: 'The hoodie making fun of me? No way! Appreciate it! But we only got room for infinity hearts in here, right? Not in my house, baby.'
The fan, named Anjali, later posted a TikTok video apologising to Siwa. She explained that she and a friend had no merchandise to wear, so they printed a picture from the internet and stuck it on their clothes. 'We googled 'funny JoJo Siwa picture' and printed the first one we found,' she said, adding they thought Siwa would find it amusing.
Anjali noted that Siwa herself had previously posted the same image on Instagram, apparently finding it funny at the time. However, when they showed the hoodie during the concert, Siwa reacted negatively and had them removed. 'We were like, oh my goodness, she's gonna laugh... And she didn't find it funny,' Anjali said, describing feeling 'about to have a panic attack'.
In her TikTok caption, Anjali wrote: 'We didn't look at the back story behind it or know it would be a trigger for her, else we absolutely would not have done that. None of it was with malicious intent. JoJo, I'm so, so sorry.' The video attracted mixed reactions, with some fans defending Siwa's response as valid given her history of bullying, while others criticised her for overreacting.
