Love Island's Joe Baggs has apologised after making a 'savage' swipe at villa favourite Sam during an episode of Love Island Aftersun. The panellist bluntly stated that Sam 'needs to book a flight home', a comment that Ope, a recently dumped Islander, 'low key agreed' with.
Joe Baggs' Brutal Confession
During the latest episode of Love Island Aftersun, host Maya Jama was joined by guest panellists Toni Laites, Yasmin Pettet, and Joe Baggs to discuss the latest drama from the villa. The conversation soon turned to Dudley electrician Sam, who has struggled to find a romantic connection after his partner Victoria was dumped.
When Maya asked who would be next to receive a rose from Sam, she quipped: 'He's brought two.' Joe then interjected with a savage comment: 'I'm sorry I'm just going to come out and say it, I just think he needs to book his flight home.' He added: 'Sorry guys, I know it was savage I know but it's just not working out is it.'
Ope and Robyn Weigh In
Axed Islander Ope confessed that he 'low key agreed' with Joe's assessment, while Joe clarified that Sam was 'too nice'. Last year's finalist Yasmin Pettet commented: 'He's too nice for the show, but we all said he's going to be eaten alive.'
Liverpool DJ Robyn, who was in a platonic pairing with Sam, said: 'Aww. No Sam is a lovely boy. Sam's amazing but that's what I said. That's why I couldn't go there with him because I would eat that boy alive, genuinely, he's just awww he's so cute.'
Maya Jama's Response
Maya responded: 'We have sweethearts in Love Island sometimes though, you don't have to be bad and mean, you can be soft and cute and still find love, no?'
Viewer Reactions
Many viewers were left seething over the latest eviction, arguing that Sam and Namibia should have been the ones to go. One person commented on X: 'Sorry but please don't send Victoria back in for Sam. How about send Sam out.' Another added: 'They should have kept Ope in there longer, sent Sam and Namibia home.'
However, a third declared: 'Protect Sam, Angelista and Ellie at all cost....they deserve so much better.'
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
