Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons looked unrecognisable at the 2026 Tony Awards on Sunday night, delivering a gender-bending performance with a full face of makeup. The actor, best known for playing Sheldon Cooper in the hit sitcom, is currently starring in the Titanic parody musical Titanique as Rose's overbearing mother, Ruth DeWitt Bukater.
Jim Parsons' Stunning Tony Awards Look
For the prestigious ceremony, Parsons wore a burgundy pantsuit paired with a pink sash and pearl jewellery. His look was completed with a dramatic headpiece featuring two white doves and full makeup, including blushed cheeks and red lips. The transformation left fans and critics alike in awe.
Titanique's Nominations and Parsons' Praise
Titanique earned four Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical (Marla Mindelle), and Best Performance by a Featured Actor (Layton Williams). Although the production did not win any awards, losing to Schmigadoon!, Ragtime, and The Lost Boys, Parsons expressed immense pride in the show.
The 53-year-old actor recently shared his joy about the role, stating: "I have to tell you, this is the most fun I've ever had doing a show in my life. First off, it is the most joyous production I've ever been in as far as... it's hysterical, the audience reaction is just amazing, and I thought, well that's why I'm high as a kite every night when I leave here."
He added: "I am shocked by the consistency. I've never been in a comedy or anything that so consistently hit in the same places, and they always hit in a way that like, you're blown back. It's amazing, but it's because the thing is so damn well-put-together."
Red Carpet Fun and Co-Star Camaraderie
Parsons described walking the red carpet with his co-stars as "heaven" and shared a photo on Instagram. Ariana Grande's brother Frankie, who also stars in the show, posted a hilarious snap of Parsons using the men's toilets, captioning it: "They really shouldn't allow us out of our theatre."
Titanique continues on Broadway until September 20.
