Jesy Nelson has revealed she is suffering ongoing complications during her pregnancy with identical twins. The former Little Mix star, 34, shared an emotional Instagram video on Wednesday with her boyfriend Zion Foster, disclosing she has been diagnosed with pre-twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS).
In the video, Nelson explained that she is expecting mono/di twins, meaning they share one placenta, which can lead to complications. She said one baby might take all the nutrients, potentially resulting in the death of both babies. She is currently undergoing twice-weekly scans to monitor the situation.
Nelson broke down in tears as she described the toll the news has taken on her. She said she and Foster were 'blessed' to be expecting twins but were 'getting upset' about the risks. She added that they had no idea such complications could occur and wanted to raise awareness.
TTTS is a potentially fatal condition affecting identical twins sharing a placenta. Abnormal blood vessel connections can lead to uneven blood flow, causing one twin to become dehydrated and the other to develop heart strain. Without treatment, it can be fatal for both twins.
Nelson and Foster went public with their relationship in January 2023, after a period of on-off dating. They announced their pregnancy with a cosy photo, and Nelson has been candid about experiencing 'constant vomiting' due to the twin pregnancy.
