Jeremy Clarkson gave plenty of signs he had cancer - how did we not notice? The Clarkson's Farm star announced he was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the end of season five. Opinion by Fran Winston, Showbiz Reporter, 14:58, Wed, Jun 17, 2026, Updated: 15:05, Wed, Jun 17, 2026.
Jeremy Clarkson reveals prostate cancer diagnosis on Clarkson’s Farm
When Jeremy Clarkson revealed he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in the penultimate episode of Clarkson's Farm, there was an outpouring of shock. In an emotional moment, filmed in June last year, the 66-year-old presenter-turned-farmer told his co-stars Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland about his diagnosis. He explained he had known for a little while following a medical in May, before undergoing a biopsy.
Since the revelation, the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host has been flooded with support from celebrity friends who seem surprised by the news. But, in hindsight, the signs were there if we had paid a bit more attention.
A charity stand at Farm Fest
At his recent inaugural Great British Farm Fest, one stall stood out amongst all the others. A prostate cancer charity were on site giving men information about the signs of the disease, which 1 in 6 men will get at some point in their lives. While that might seem rather innocuous, I attended the weekend and to say it stood out like a sore thumb is an understatement. While other charities were represented over the weekend, they were all related to farming or animal welfare. The prostate cancer stand did seem somewhat out of place amidst the agriculture theme. However, it makes a lot of sense now in light of Jeremy's revelation. Those working on it over the weekend did a sterling job and were incredibly proactive about approaching men about the subject. Clearly, this was a very personal addition to the festival for Jeremy. It is rather telling that the event also ran more or less a year after his own diagnosis.
Emotional reaction to Gerald Cooper's return
Aside from Farm Fest, fans of Clarkson's Farm will have noticed how emotional he got about the return of beloved dry stone waller and farmer, Gerald Cooper, this season. Gerald has also battled prostate cancer - indeed it was a storyline on the show. Obviously, Jeremy was emotional when he learned about his friend's diagnosis in season 3 of the Prime Video hit. Gerald actually missed half the season because of it. In 2024 he was declared cancer free, but scenes this series have shown Jeremy get particularly emotional around him, enquiring after his health.
What's next for Jeremy?
It is unknown what Jeremy's current cancer status is, but given that he was very much business as usual at Farm Fest, he certainly isn't letting his health slow him down. Although, other than that observation, we will have to wait for further updates in season six of the show.
