Jax Taylor Steps Away from ‘The Valley’ Season 3 to Focus on Recovery

Jax Taylor will not return for the third season of Bravo’s ‘The Valley,’ his team announced, as the reality star prioritises his sobriety, mental health and co-parenting relationship. In a statement obtained by Variety, Taylor said: “After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of ‘The Valley.’ Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting relationship. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.” Us Weekly first reported the news.

Taylor, who turned 46 on July 11, revealed in March that he had struggled with cocaine addiction for over two decades. His departure comes amid a turbulent second season, which has documented a violent domestic incident involving his estranged wife and fellow cast member, Brittany Cartwright. In July 2024, two days before production began, Taylor flipped a coffee table that struck Cartwright’s knee, then threw furniture and punched a wall while their then three-year-old son Cruz was in the next room. The incident was reported to production and Bravo, and became a central storyline.

Following the outburst, Taylor entered a mental health facility, but text messages sent to Cartwright from the facility showed his anger and resentment. “You took my job away from me… I’ve worked so hard for two years for this and you took it from me,” one read. Another said: “I will never ever forgive you… you destroyed the only thing that I love doing.” While at the facility, Taylor also appeared to monitor Cartwright via home cameras, texting her about what she was wearing. Cartwright’s divorce lawyer described the messages as “obsessed” and “unhealthy,” and Cartwright began divorce proceedings, serving Taylor on camera after he left the facility.

Bravo has not commented on Taylor’s departure. By stepping away voluntarily, Taylor avoids the high likelihood of being fired and leaves the door open for a potential return. The Season 2 finale of ‘The Valley’ airs on July 22, followed by three reunion episodes.
