Television personality Sharon Osbourne experienced a wave of parental anxiety on Tuesday evening as she watched her son, Jack Osbourne, undertake his first solo trial on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
Joined by her daughter Kelly, the pair huddled together, nervously tuning in to the ITV broadcast. Their apprehension was palpable as Jack faced the daunting underwater challenge named 'Drown The Hatch'.
A Family on Edge
Documenting their raw, real-time reactions via Instagram Stories, Kelly revealed she and her mother were literally 'holding their breath' throughout the ordeal. The challenge required Jack to dive into eight separate submerged chambers, retrieving stars hidden within hatches against the clock.
The tension was amplified when the television broadcast cut to a commercial break just seconds after Jack began. Kelly exclaimed to her followers, 'Watching I'm A Celeb and they cut to commercial at the most poignant bit and I was holding my breath, and I realised halfway through the first commercial I was still holding my breath.'
Expressing their shared frustration, Sharon noted he was surrounded by 'lobsters and toads,' while Kelly urgently declared, 'We need to know what's happening!'
Smashing the Challenge
Despite the family's fears, Jack demonstrated incredible composure and physical prowess. He breezed through the first chamber, securing his initial two stars in a mere 26 seconds.
As he progressed, Kelly's commentary was a mix of encouragement and awe, cheering, 'He's doing so well! Yes Jacky! Come on Jacky!' Sharon, meanwhile, voiced concern for her son's stamina, stating, 'He has got to be exhausted.'
Kelly observed his almost meditative focus, noting, 'Jack has found his zen. Oh my god! A minute holding his breath on that one.' Their cheers of relief and pride erupted as Jack emerged victorious from the final chamber, having secured a perfect full house of 12 stars in record time.
Celebrating his incredible achievement, which won the camp a much-needed meal, Kelly told her followers, 'He got the camp an amazing dinner, and we are so proud of him. I think I was more nervous than he was but he did f*****g amazing and we are so so so proud.'
Echoing the camp's new nickname for him, she added, 'Sorry I think I spelt Jacqwaman wrong, but that's his name now! Jaquaman!'
Viewers and Jungle Realities
The impressive performance did not go unnoticed by the public. Fans flooded social media platforms with praise, branding Jack a 'machine' and expressing how 'insanely impressed' they were. One viewer wrote, 'I have to say I’ve NEVER seen anyone boss a trial the way Jack Osbourne bossed his trial tonight!'
His success in the jungle is particularly notable given his privileged upbringing, showing a sheer willingness to engage with the toughest aspects of camp life. He has also connected with audiences by speaking candidly about his late father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July.
However, the jungle experience has taken a physical toll. In a recent appearance on I'm a Celebrity... Unpacked, Jack confessed the celebrities are losing significant weight. He revealed he would smuggle in a comfortable camping chair if he could, citing that sitting on the hard logs has become unbearable.
'As we're all losing weight, we have no a***,' he explained. 'And so we all just have bruised, chafed a**** from sitting on the logs.' He also mentioned his 'stomach muscles hurt' from both laughter and potential malnutrition.
Despite the hardships, Jack identified the non-stop laughter as his best memory so far in the camp. I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues nightly on ITV1 and ITVX.
