A woman has shared her strategy for obtaining a seat on Wimbledon's Centre Court without a pre-purchased ticket, by joining the famous Wimbledon Queue and camping overnight. Alice Elizabeth, known on Instagram as @aliceelizabethluxury, detailed her experience on Day 5 of the 2026 Championships, which run from June 29 to July 12 at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
Camping and Queuing for Centre Court
Alice Elizabeth arrived at the venue at 2am on Tuesday, June 30, to queue for the following day's play. She received her first queue card that night. At 5am on Wednesday, July 1, she informed stewards she was staying for another day and was moved to a new queue with a different card. She noted that there are toilet cubicles and shops like Sainsbury's and Gail's Bakery nearby, but warned that leaving a tent unattended for more than 30-60 minutes could result in stewards marking it and potentially moving it out of the queue.
Packing Up and Entering the Venue
At 5am on the day of play, Alice Elizabeth packed away her tent. She purchased a £14.99 day pass to a nearby Pure Gym for a shower and to prepare before entering the venue. She then stored her luggage at the venue for £5, queued for another 3-4 hours to collect her wristband, and secured a Centre Court ticket for Block 102, Row E—just five rows from the front—for £120.
Watching Top Tennis Stars
Alice Elizabeth described the experience as “one of the best sporting days I've ever had,” watching matches including Yannick Sinner versus Novak Djokovic and Mirra Andreeva. She emphasised that the queue is suitable for solo attendees, as people are friendly and often form connections. She added that regular queuers see familiar faces each year.
Social Media Reaction
Her Instagram post garnered over 3,600 likes, with many users asking about the process. She revealed her queue number was 96 on the second day, explaining that the first 500 people get Centre Court ticket options. One commenter praised her dedication to Novak Djokovic, while another criticised the system as “dystopian” for requiring such effort in 2026.
Grounds passes for outer courts cost £33 and are sold on the day on a first-come, first-served basis via the Wimbledon Queue. Alice Elizabeth's method demonstrates that with planning and camping, premium Centre Court seats are accessible without hospitality packages or influencer invitations.
