Helen Flanagan has declared that she will keep her next relationship private, believing it will lead to marriage. The former Coronation Street star, now 35, ended her 13-year relationship with footballer Scott Sinclair in 2022, with whom she shares three children.
No More Casual Dating
Flanagan, who played Rosie Webster on the ITV soap, insists she is done with casual dating. In a recent interview, she stated: 'I do feel that when I do next have my next relationship, and I think that when I have my next relationship, I think it will be my husband.'
Speaking to interviewer Lewis Nicholls, she added: 'I think it will be the real thing. I will choose to protect it and I will keep that private. I will probably say who that person is, but I will want to protect it. I will want to keep it private.'
Protecting Her Next Relationship
Flanagan elaborated on her decision: 'I'll want to keep it really special, because I kind of feel like everybody's always got something to say. My next relationship I have I think will be my husband, because I won't be wasting my time, really. I will want to choose to protect it, definitely.'
However, the actress worries she may have revealed too much in her memoir, Head and Heart: Break-ups, Breakdowns and Being Rosie. She reflected: 'I think it's a difficult one because sometimes you can choose, sometimes I do find it difficult, but then again I have spoke about things, so you have to find a way to deal with it. I've got friends that are actors and actresses, and they have already chose to be more private about things. I have spoke about things, like I wrote a book. I don't know, maybe if I was too honest in my book a little bit, but it's done now. It's written.'
Flanagan added: 'The book is there, so there's no taking it back. I was actually talking about mental health, and wanted to give context to it.'
Recent Reports and Social Media
Earlier this year, reports emerged suggesting Scott was compelling her and their three children to vacate the six-bedroom property they previously shared near Bolton. During a visit to Scotland, the television star uploaded an enigmatic message: 'No weapon used against me shall prosper. Love wins. I found this spot at Loch Lomond in lockdown and it's just special to me.'
She added: 'I don't know why but I suppose we all take comfort in things and if it makes sense to us then that's enough and every time I go to Scotland I go there.' The pair are reportedly communicating via family members.
