Olivier Awards host Hannah Waddingham was praised by onlookers after she reprimanded a photographer who appeared to ask her to 'show leg' on the red carpet. In a video posted on X, the photographer's comments are inaudible, but Waddingham is heard saying: 'Oh my God, you'd never say that to a man, my friend.'
She threatened to walk away if the photographer persisted, adding: 'Don't say show me leg. No.' The incident occurred ahead of the prestigious theatre awards at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday. As she walked away, she pointed and added: 'Have some manners.'
Waddingham, best known for playing Rebecca Welton in Ted Lasso, hosted the awards for the second consecutive year and performed Anything Goes. The south London star has also appeared in Game of Thrones and Sex Education, and co-hosted Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool.
At the ceremony, Sunset Boulevard equalled the record for most Olivier wins for a musical, taking seven prizes including best musical revival. Other winners included Sarah Snook for best actress in The Picture of Dorian Gray, and Haydn Gwynne, who won an acting award posthumously.
