Grammy-Nominated Singer JP Saxe Cancels Tour After Poor Ticket Sales

Grammy-nominated singer JP Saxe has cancelled his entire US tour after failing to sell enough tickets, admitting he 'aimed too high'. The 32-year-old Canadian artist, best known for his 2019 hit 'If The World Was Ending' with Julia Michaels, took to social media to confess he had overestimated demand.

In a video, Saxe said he needed to sell 20,000 tickets within 48 hours to save the 32-date 'Make Yourself At Home' tour, which was due to start next month. He urged fans not to wait until the last minute, warning that otherwise the shows would not go ahead.

Despite an influx of 'a few thousand extra' sales after his plea, it was not enough. Saxe confirmed in a follow-up video that the tour would be cancelled and purchases refunded. He expressed gratitude for the support, calling it 'the nicest the internet has ever been to me'.

Writing for Variety, Saxe explained his decision to be honest about the failure, saying it was better for his growth than pretending success. 'Self-image is delicate on a good day, fragile on a bad one,' he wrote.
