The Tates in Emmerdale have fallen apart. Following the death of Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), no-one in the big house seems to know how to move forward. There’s Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), who’s spent weeks either plotting revenge or pushing people away. Kim Tate (Claire King) has been busying herself with funeral arrangements while reeling from the fact that she’s lost the woman she thought of like a daughter. And Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough)… where to even begin?

Friendly reminder that the character returned from the dead earlier this year because he wanted to reconnect with Joe. Near enough everything Graham has done has been with Joe’s best interests at heart, but when the one thing his surrogate son wants is something he cannot get, what exactly does that mean for Graham?
Next week, Kim arrives at the hospital and learns that Joe has banned everyone from seeing baby Tate as he’s being put up for adoption. Kim tries to get Joe to see sense, but nothing works. Graham then steps in and says to Joe that if the baby is adopted, he’ll leave Joe’s life forever.

Joe and Graham return to Home Farm with baby Tate in tow, but a hopeful Kim then learns that Joe has only brought the tot home so she can say goodbye.
‘I don’t think she can forgive Joe’, star Claire King said, discussing how Kim feels about what Joe is doing. ‘Because she knows what she went through all those years ago, and she knows he will regret it. So I don’t think she’s particularly empathetic. She wants to try and avoid it like the plague, so she’s going to have to come up with the plan. She has got Graham on her side.’
Reminded of her own experiences with putting a child up for adoption, Kim begs Joe to rethink things, and is then dealt another blow when Graham announces that he’s leaving. Broken and unable to process even more bad news, Kim watches Graham leave with baby Tate.
Left alone at Home Farm
Left alone, Kim suddenly feels incredibly small in the empty Home Farm. ‘She’s had this dream of a family, she loves her family, she’s always been protective of her family so to see it fall apart is devastating for her’, Claire added. ‘She doesn’t know which way to turn because everybody seems to be leaving the nest.’
In the week, Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) learns that baby Tate has been given away and quickly makes his feelings clear to Joe. While a spiralling Joe hits the whisky, Kim cannot help but think about when she put her baby up for adoption. We know Kim’s daughter is DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) – could the developments with baby Tate push Kim to try and find her?
