Good Morning Britain Halted for Starmer Alert in Devastating Blow
GMB Halted for Starmer Alert in Devastating Blow

Good Morning Britain was interrupted on Tuesday morning as Sir Keir Starmer prepared to meet world leaders at the G7 summit. Presenter Kate Garraway suggested the event might be the UK Prime Minister's 'last summit'.

Garraway asked news correspondent Louisa James: 'Could this be, I guess, Sir Keir Starmer's last summit? What kind of reception is he going to have?'

James, reporting live from Lake Geneva via video link, replied: 'Yeah, despite the very peaceful setting here on Lake Geneva, the backdrop to this summit for Keir Starmer is really anything but calm. There is the very real possibility that this could be not just his last meetings with world leaders, but his last week in the job if there is a challenge to his leadership, which could come as soon as this weekend.'

James added that, so far, the event is 'business as usual' as Starmer and his wife arrived yesterday. They have already met with the German chancellor and enjoyed a drink with the Canadian Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister is expected to urge greater support for Ukraine in its war against Russia and is committing £210 million of UK money to help fuel Ukraine's nuclear power stations for the next two years.

This will also be Starmer's first face-to-face meeting with US President Donald Trump since the American leader said in March that the UK PM was 'no Winston Churchill'.
