General Hospital Star Kirsten Storms Reveals Brain Surgery After Cyst Discovery

General Hospital actress Kirsten Storms has shared an update on her health following brain surgery to remove a cyst. The 37-year-old, who plays Maxie on the soap opera, took to Instagram on Sunday to thank fans for their support after doctors discovered 'a very large cyst that had split into two' during treatment for severe neck pain.

Storms said she had experienced 'random health issues' in recent years, which she attributed to ageing or medication side effects. However, an MRI ordered by her orthopedist revealed the cyst attached to the lower part of her brain. She expressed gratitude that the situation 'wasn't more serious' and praised her neurosurgeon for knowing 'immediately how to fix it.'

The actress admitted to feeling nervous about the procedure but thanked her family, friends, and 'incredible work family' for their support. She described her workplace as 'a great place to be everyday' and said she found comfort among the cast and crew. Storms, who has also appeared in Clubhouse and Days of Our Lives, said she was 'excited to get back to it after my recovery.'

In a previous post on Friday, Storms clarified that the cyst was not cancerous. She noted that medical staff had shaved part of her head for the surgery and asked for no comments about her hair, as it is temporary. She expects to 'be on the mend for the next several weeks.'
