Gabriella Cilmi, Sweet About Me Singer, Spotted on Tyne Bridge in Newcastle
Gabriella Cilmi Spotted on Tyne Bridge Before Gateshead Gig

It is not every day that a music icon crosses the Tyne Bridge, but that is exactly what happened on Friday. Gabriella Cilmi, the singer behind the 2009 summer smash 'Sweet About Me', was seen walking across the landmark hours before taking to the stage to support British soul legend Beverley Knight at her show at the nearby Glasshouse in Gateshead.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

In the summer of 2009, when massive hits in the UK chart included JLS's 'Beat Again', David Guetta and Kelly Rowland's 'When Love Takes Over', and the Black Eyed Peas' 'I Gotta Feeling', Gabriella Cilmi appeared to arrive on the British music scene from nowhere. 'Sweet About Me' was picked up by radios and stormed into the top 10, where it stayed for a while.

Gabriella's other notable hits include 'Warm This Winter', a modern Christmas classic that has since been covered by Aussie pop royalty Kylie Minogue and is listened to by many every December, and 'On a Mission' from her second album 'Ten', which also included tracks like 'Defender'.

Recent Activities

Earlier this year, Gabriella released her first single in a while, 'Pure Love'. She was back on stage in the North East to open for Beverley Knight in Gateshead for the latest date of her 'Born to Perform' tour at The Glasshouse. The tour has seen Beverley perform songs spanning her three-decade-long career, including hits like 'Come As You Are' and 'Keep This Fire Burning', as well as songs from her career in musical theatre like 'Queen of the Night' from The Bodyguard and 'Memory' from Cats.

Gabriella Cilmi and her bandmate were photographed on the Tyne Bridge, enjoying the sights before the show. The performance was part of a series of dates supporting Beverley Knight across the UK.
