Frankie Grande Accused of Throwing Shade at Tate McRae During VMAs

Ariana Grande's brother, Frankie Grande, has been accused of sparking a feud with pop star Tate McRae after a telling moment at this year's MTV Video Music Awards. The 41-year-old actor and singer was seen scowling and shaking his head during McRae's performance of her hits 'Revolving Door' and 'Sports Car' in a backstage POV camera.

Fans quickly took to social media to brand Frankie as 'dramatic' and 'giving hater energy'. One fan commented, 'He's so mad,' while another wrote, 'That man has no right to have a reaction like that to Tate of all people performing lol the girl DEVOURED.' However, some defended him, suggesting he was simply paying close attention or perhaps disappointed by her vocal choices.

Frankie later appeared on the VMAs Celeb POV stream to clarify his actions, saying, 'I love Tate McRae. I'm obsessed with her. She's beautiful and her makeup artist killed it today.' He also shared a clip of his sister Ariana meeting Tate backstage, with Frankie seen shaking her hand.

The incident comes amid other awkward moments for Ariana, including a bizarre encounter with Sabrina Carpenter, who playfully put her hands around Ariana's neck while posing for photos. Additionally, Ariana was accused of shading Sabrina during the ceremony after a hug appeared awkward when she failed to reciprocate the embrace.

Ariana won two awards at the VMAs, including Video of the Year for 'Brighter Days Ahead', beating out Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, and Sabrina Carpenter, among others.
