Four in a Bed Contestant Spits at Table After £45 Underpayment

A dramatic episode of Four in a Bed saw tensions explode during Payment Day, with one contestant spitting at the table after a £45 underpayment. The repeat episode aired on Saturday, June 13, on Channel 4.

Father-Daughter Duo Clash with Hotel Owners

Father-daughter pair Shane and Emily confronted co-owners Patricia and Liam after receiving mutual low sleep ratings. Emily, who stayed at Patricia and Liam's boutique hotel in Leicestershire, complained about excessive noise during the night.

Emily gave a sleep score of two, alleging an argument outside her window lasting "two and a half hours" and constant car noise keeping her awake. Liam defended the rating, saying, "I think it could have been a little bit higher than a two." Emily retorted, "I just didn't feel nice and safe in the room."

Liam later told the camera, "The score they gave, a two, I think it was extremely harsh, they've been extremely picky." As a result, Liam and Patricia's Harboro Hotel in Melton Mowbray faced a £25 underpayment, which Emily described as "quite generous."

Video Evidence and Escalating Tensions

Emily claimed to have video evidence of the noise, while Shane stated, "When you go to the hotel, you want a good night's sleep and a clean room. End of." Emily added, "I actually wish I didn't pay at all. Two hours sleep, that's the most important thing of the stay, so for me, I do regret it."

During Payment Day, Patricia and Liam retaliated by criticizing Shane and Emily's establishment, citing cleanliness issues and poor sleep. Emily accused them of seeking "revenge." Liam alleged finding hairs in the bed, which Shane dismissed as "very hard to believe." Liam also claimed dust covered the walls, prompting Shane to fume, "I don't take that at all."

Shane revealed an A-list American celebrity had recently stayed in the same room without complaints and had rebooked. Patricia questioned, "So is an A-lister celebrity more important than a general customer?" before adding to the camera, "I think we hurt his ego a bit."

Underpayment and Spitting Incident

When Liam and Patricia gave Shane and Emily a sleep score of two, Shane accused them of "tit for tat" and insisted it couldn't be the truth. He remarked, "Shame we're not in a court room and we had a jury to judge you."

Opening the payment envelope, Shane and Emily discovered a £45 underpayment for their Hampshire hotel. Liam explained, "Throughout the room we found issues," but Shane retorted, "What you've said to us, to me is an absolute joke." As Liam said they should "agree to disagree," Shane spat at the table. Patricia called out, "There is no need for that!"

Outcome of the Series

Neither team won the series due to the underpayments. Suffolk hotel owners Louis and Michael took the victory, saying, "We've worked really hard and we're really over the moon." Liam and Patricia commented, "We came second, we're very pleased with that, they deserve it. They worked really hard and they've got a beautiful place."

Four in a Bed is available to watch on Channel 4.
