A fiery confrontation on Four in a Bed led to one contestant visibly losing their temper during Payment Day. The repeat episode, broadcast on Saturday, June 13, featured tensions boiling over after mutual low sleep scores sparked a bitter dispute.
Father-daughter duo Shane and Emily pressed co-owners Patricia and Liam for explanations after receiving poor sleep scores during their stay at the Harboro Hotel in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. Emily claimed she experienced noise levels that kept her awake for two and a half hours, awarding a sleep score of just two.
Liam defended the score, saying, "I think it could have been a little bit higher than a two." Emily countered, "I just didn't feel nice and safe in the room." Speaking to the camera, Liam added, "The score they gave, a two, I think it was extremely harsh, they've been extremely picky."
As a result, Liam and Patricia received a £25 underpayment, which Emily described as "quite generous." When another pair of B&B owners defended the Harboro Hotel, claiming they heard no noise from their adjacent room, Shane suggested that a drink before bed had helped them sleep. Emily also claimed to have video evidence of the noise, stating, "When you go to the hotel, you want a good night's sleep and a clean room. End of."
The situation worsened when Patricia and Liam retaliated during the review of Shane and Emily's stay, citing cleanliness issues and poor sleep. Emily accused them of revenge. Shane disputed claims of hairs in the bed and dust on the walls, fuming, "I've never had any complaints in this room. We had an A-list American celebrity in there two or three weeks ago, and he's rebooked." Patricia questioned whether an A-lister is more important than a general customer, adding, "I think we hurt his ego a bit."
Shane also expressed anger over a sleep score of two from Patricia and Liam, calling it "tit for tat." He insisted, "You're entitled to say what you say but I don't accept anything you say." Opening the payment envelope, Shane and Emily discovered they had been underpaid by £45 for their stay in Hampshire. Liam explained, "Throughout the room we found issues," prompting Shane to retort, "What you've said to us, to me is an absolute joke."
As Liam said they would "agree to disagree," Shane spat at the table, prompting Patricia to call out, "There is no need for that!" Due to both underpayments, neither team won the series. Suffolk hotel owners Louis and Michael took the victory, with Liam and Patricia commenting, "We came second, we're very pleased with that. They deserve it."
Four in a Bed is available to watch on Channel 4.
