Escape to the Country Star Postpones Shows After Illness

BBC Escape to the Country star Jules Hudson has been forced to postpone his upcoming show after revealing a "sudden and serious family illness" in an emotional social media announcement.

The 56-year-old presenter, who also appears on Countryfile, shared the distressing news with his Instagram followers, confirming that his scheduled appearance this Friday, June 19, will not proceed as planned.

In a video filmed by the water in Suffolk, Hudson explained: "Well folks, Jules here in Suffolk on the banks of the River Deben with the very sad news that unfortunately, due to a sudden and unexpected family illness, I've had to postpone our little get together that we'd planned for this Friday night at the Blake Theatre in Monmouth."

New Date Announced

Hudson went on to share that the event has been rescheduled: "The good news is that we've found a new date, we've postponed it to Saturday 12th of September. I do hope you can still join me then, but I'm sure you will appreciate there are times when family has to come first, and this is one of those moments. So thank you for your understanding, and I will look forward to – I hope – seeing you at the Blake Theatre on the 12th of September, later this year."

In the accompanying caption, the presenter confirmed the illness was "sudden and serious" and assured fans that refunds would be available for those unable to attend the new date. He added: "It's hugely disappointing to have to change plans, but I hope you'll understand on this occasion, and hopefully we can all get together in a few short months. With thanks, and apologies once again."

Fans Show Support

Followers quickly rallied around Hudson, offering messages of support. One fan commented: "Family comes first, sending them a speedy recovery." Another wrote: "Ah. Of course family first. No question. Prayers to all. This is the reason we fans are fans. I'm glad to know that you can reschedule. Again, prayers for good health for all." A third added: "So sorry to hear that Jules and wishing you and the family well."
