The Tartan Army has gone viral online for being among the loudest and proudest World Cup fans in the tournament. Scots have taken over Boston in the past week with their bagpipes and jubilant celebrations after Scotland achieved their first World Cup victory in 36 years on Saturday in their 1-0 defeat against Haiti.
While Americans and other World Cup fans have watched on in awe of the Scots' infectious passion and energy, some people do not seem to be enjoying their big win.
In a now viral clip, English fans were seen taking a swipe at the Tartan Army as they created their own chant of 'You Can Shove Your F***ing Bagpipes Up Your A***' to the tune of Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny Aff A Bus.
England Fans' Chant Goes Viral
In the video, a crowd of England supporters can be seen belting out the chant in a busy pub as one man stands up on a chair hitting a basin drum with a bottle to form the beat. The footage was posted on X by @barstoolsports, with the caption: 'Naturally England are taking shots at The Scots.'
Scots Hit Back at Rivalry
Scots fans hit back at the rivalry in the comments, with one writing: 'England fans will tell you they don't care about Scotland though. Rent free.' A second added: 'Imagine getting this pressed about bagpipes.'
A third brutally shot back: 'England fans chanting this while their trophy cabinet remains empty is peak comedy. Maybe focus on winning something before talking smack.' Another echoed: 'About two brain cells between them… will be throwing chairs around next no doubt.' Someone else chimed in: 'Don't worry we can take it, the world loves us they are just jealous.'
Scotland's World Cup Journey
Scotland's victory on Saturday against Haiti saw the team win 1-0 at Boston Stadium after John McGinn scored in the 28th minute in what was the only goal of the match. Scotland now face Morocco on Friday, June 19, at Boston Stadium before their game against Brazil at Miami Stadium next Wednesday, June 24. There are hopes that Scotland may qualify for the knockout stages for the first time in World Cup history after they shot to the top of group C at the weekend.
England's World Cup Opener
Meanwhile, England's first match in the World Cup 2026 is tonight against Croatia at Dallas Stadium in Texas. England will then play Ghana at Boston Stadium next Tuesday, June 23, before Panama at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey the following weekend on Saturday, June 27.
