Emmerdale fans may be surprised to learn that actress Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira Dingle, previously dated her co-star Jonny McPherson, known for his role as Dr Liam Cavanagh. The relationship began in July 2020, and the pair moved in together during the first COVID-19 lockdown, but they quietly split in early 2021.
Speaking to The Sun, Natalie explained that the pandemic added pressure to their romance. 'Unfortunately, it was Covid times, so there was this added pressure. He moved in with me during the first lockdown and it was just too intense, too soon,' she said. 'And if you're not used to that, which I hadn't been for a while, we realised pretty quickly that we were better off as friends.'
The actress, 51, also revealed that she still gets on well with her ex when they film together in Leeds. 'We were doing a few scenes together the other day and it was lovely to see him,' she shared. 'Our characters don't really have much to do with each other on screen, so it was nice working with him.' The pair recently worked together again as Moira and Liam navigated Cain Dingle's cancer diagnosis.
Since the split, Jonny McPherson has moved on and is in a 'happy' relationship with his new girlfriend. He told OK! Magazine: 'I am with someone. She is absolutely wonderful. We've been together for a couple of years. I am really happy.'
