Soap fans were thrilled to spot Angela Lonsdale making an appearance on Emmerdale earlier this month. Angela, 58, has joined the ITV soap as Charity Dingle's police officer DS Reid. Charity has courageously reported the villainous Dr Todd after he sexually assaulted her in powerful and hard-hitting scenes.
Coronation Street Recognition
Coronation Street fans immediately recognised DS Reid actress Angela through her memorable role as police officer Emma on Corrie from 2000 to 2003, where she was partnered with the iconic character Curly Watts.
Since leaving Coronation Street, Angela has gone on to appear in Holby City, Doctors, This Is England '90, Our Girl, The Syndicate, and Hollyoaks, among others.
EastEnders Ex-Husband
Angela was previously married to EastEnders legend Perry Fenwick, who has portrayed Billy Mitchell on the BBC One soap since 1998. The pair reportedly crossed paths at a soap industry event before tying the knot in 2005.
Their wedding followed Perry's heartfelt proposal, in which he spelled out a message using pebbles on a beach, to which she said yes. The couple quickly gained a reputation for having one of the most rock-solid marriages in soapland and went on to welcome three children together: Lucy, Isabella, and Jayden.
However, Perry and Angela's marriage was short-lived, and the pair chose to go their separate ways just five years after their wedding. A spokesperson for the couple said at the time: "Perry Fenwick and Angela Lonsdale have sadly separated after five years of marriage. They will not be making any further comment."
Real Accent Surprise
Following Angela's recent Emmerdale role, the actress took to Instagram last week to share a warm welcome video for her new followers. The Cumberland-born star wrote: "hello and welcome to all me new followers ! #deeplygratefulforitall."
However, some of Angela's new 10,000 followers were left stunned upon hearing her 'real accent', as she spoke with a distinctly Geordie twang in the clip.
One follower commented: "Wow I never knew you were a geordie! Love your accent and you're doing an amazing job on emmerdale! Xxx" to which another account replied: "I thought Angela was from Cumbria. Maybe picked up on the accent if she lives there x."
Another user wrote: "Never had you down as a Geordie. Can canny!", while a further follower commented: "Not used to hearing you with a Geordie accent!" and yet another fan gushed: "@realangelalonsdale your voice is so smooth and calming."
