Some of the most compelling child actors in British soaps, including Coronation Street, EastEnders, and Emmerdale, are actually related off-screen. Viewers may not realise that several young stars share family ties, both within the same soap and across different ones.
Isabella Flanagan, who plays troubled Hope Stape on Coronation Street, is the younger sister of Amelia Flanagan, known for her role as April Windsor on Emmerdale. Amelia, now 13, has been on Emmerdale since she was five and has won multiple awards for her performances. Isabella joined Corrie in 2017, inspired by her sister's success.
The Flanagan family's soap connections extend further: William Flanagan, Isabella's twin brother, plays Joseph Brown on Coronation Street, appearing two months after his sister. Joseph is Hope's cousin on the show.
Other soap families include Charley Webb (Debbie Dingle in Emmerdale) and her brother Jamie Lomas, known for playing Warren Fox in Hollyoaks. Jamie also has a daughter with former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh. Meanwhile, EastEnders' Jacqueline Jossa (Lauren Branning) has a younger cousin, Megan, who briefly played Courtney Mitchell on the same soap in 2006.
Coronation Street's Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster) is also related to her co-star Ellie Leach (Faye Windass) as cousins, adding another layer to the soap family tree.
