Emmerdale viewers are set to be left devastated for Charity Dingle in the coming week's episodes. In recent dramatic scenes, Dr Todd — who has spent weeks blackmailing Charity over baby Leyla's true biological parentage — sexually assaulted Charity in deeply distressing scenes.
Showing remarkable bravery, Charity reported Dr Todd and the assault to the police, where sharp-eyed soap fans recognised DS Reid actress Angela Lonsdale. In this week's scenes, Dr Manpreet Sharma pays Charity a visit, during which Charity falsely attributes her breakdown to postnatal depression. Manpreet prescribes medication before leaving, abandoning Charity feeling utterly alone as she struggles to open up to her loved ones about the sexual assault.
Charity's Spiraling Turmoil
When Mack Boyd returns home, Charity is horrified to learn he has told Sarah about her troubles, and once alone, she washes sleeping pills down with wine. Upon learning of her grandmother's distress, Sarah is wracked with guilt, blaming herself for Charity's supposed postnatal depression due to her role as surrogate mother to baby Leyla — unaware that Charity and Ross Barton are Leyla's true biological parents.
Looking ahead to next week's spoilers, Charity continues to spiral further into turmoil. In forthcoming scenes, Charity and Cain Dingle find common ground over their shared struggles, both acknowledging that their volatile outbursts are rooted in deeper emotional pain. Charity urges Cain to confide in his wife Moira Dingle and closest friend Liam Cavanagh. Yet despite her own advice, Charity stubbornly refuses to confront her personal anguish, even as Cain pushes her to do so.
Family's Desperate Search
Elsewhere, Mack finds himself at a loss when it comes to supporting Charity, confessing to Chas Dingle that he feels utterly helpless and out of his depth. His subsequent attempts to reach out to Charity are firmly rebuffed. Overwhelmed and desperate to escape, a tearful Charity jumps in her car and drives away. Later, broken and teetering on the brink of collapse, she stands alone at the water's edge, ignoring an incoming call from Mack.
Back home, Charity's worried family regroup after their searches prove fruitless. Beside himself with anxiety, Mack takes matters into his own hands and contacts the police. Meanwhile, at the lakeside, a vacant Charity gazes blankly into the distance before hearing a rustling nearby. A stranger approaches and, noticing Charity's visible distress, moves to offer her assistance.
As the stranger reaches out to comfort Charity and encourage her to talk, Charity instinctively lashes out and floors her. Shaken, Charity is full of remorse, though the stranger calmly suggests the reaction stemmed from being touched without consent. Reassured that the stranger can be trusted, Charity finally prepares to open up. Back home, Mackenzie speaks with police regarding Charity's disappearance — but will she be found safe and sound?
