Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of US Vice President Kamala Harris, has been subjected to online ridicule after sharing a video of herself body rolling on Instagram. The 24-year-old fashion designer and model posted the clip, which showed her demonstrating a knitting technique while wearing a cream knit dress of her own design.
The video quickly attracted negative comments, with some users mocking her movements and appearance. However, many of her followers came to her defence, praising her creativity and confidence. Emhoff, who has at least 18 tattoos, including a cow on her left arm and a smiley face made of eggs and bacon, began tattooing herself during the pandemic.
Emhoff made her New York Fashion Week debut as a designer earlier this year and is the founder of avant-garde knitwear brand Ella Likes To Knit. She recently hosted a pop-up event at Spring Studios in Manhattan, showcasing her creations from her Brooklyn studio. 'I started as a fine artist, and now I'm in fashion and having a runway show doesn't make sense for me. I need it to be an immersive experience,' she told Vogue.
Emhoff also attended several NYFW shows, including Loewe and Stella McCartney, and wore a charcoal pinstripe skirt set for the Thom Browne Fall/Winter 2023 show. Vice President Harris married Doug Emhoff in 2014, and Ella and her brother Cole have been supportive of their stepmother, calling her 'Momala'.
