Ed Sheeran has confirmed that he is taking a break from music. The hitmaker, currently on the American leg of his Loop Tour, made the announcement onstage at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Saturday.
Ed Sheeran's Announcement
Addressing the crowd, Sheeran said, "This is gonna be my last time here in a while. I might take some time off once this tour has ended and sort of do the dad thing." He added, "So if I don't see you for a while, I love you, thank you for coming."
Family Time
Ed, 35, shares two daughters, Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 4, with his wife, Cherry Seaborn, whom he married in 2019. He plans to devote his time to his family after the tour concludes.
Tour Schedule
The American leg of the Loop Tour is set to end on November 7 in Tampa. Following that, Sheeran will head to Latin America for performances in Chile, Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico, with the final date on December 12 in Mexico City. The tour began on January 16 in Auckland, New Zealand.
Previous Breaks
This is not the first time Sheeran has taken time off. In 2015, he took nine months off after the success of his album Multiply, which sold over 9 million copies worldwide. After his Divide tour, he also took 18 months out.
Recent Achievements
Last month, Sheeran was named the UK's most-played artist in 2025 by music licensing agency PPL, beating Taylor Swift. His music is played an average of 574 times per day, or 24 plays per hour. Sheeran expressed gratitude, saying, "I am so grateful to be named most-played artist across TV, radio and venues across the UK for an incredible eighth time."
The rest of the top 10 included Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Coldplay, Sir Elton John, Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lady Gaga. Myles Smith's Nice To Meet You was the most-played track of 2025.
