Singer Ed Sheeran has announced he is leaving the UK to move to the United States with his family. The 34-year-old, currently based in Suffolk with his wife Cherry Seaborn and their two daughters, plans to relocate across the Atlantic for the foreseeable future.
Sheeran revealed the move during an appearance on The 2 Johnnies podcast, saying: 'I'm just about to move to America. I feel like I might be the only person moving to America. I'm going on tour there for a while, and I have a family, so I can't dip in and out.'
The singer, who owns a reported 22 properties in London worth an estimated £57 million, will leave behind his £3.7 million Suffolk mansion known as Sheeranville. He admitted he will miss attending Ipswich Town matches, as he owns a 1.4% stake in the club. 'I went to almost every game last season – I think I can only make one this season because I'm moving to the States,' he said.
Sheeran has not disclosed his exact destination in the US. The move follows his previous comments about the extensive security measures he has implemented for his family, including 24-hour security at his home and personal security for himself, his wife, and his children, after experiencing a break-in attempt.
