EastEnders' Original Lauren Branning Looks Unrecognisable 16 Years After Leaving Soap

Madeline Duggan, the original actress to portray Lauren Branning on EastEnders, looks worlds away from her Walford days as she shared a glamorous selfie on Instagram. The 31-year-old starred as Max Branning's eldest daughter from 2006 to 2010, before Jacqueline Jossa took over the role.

Duggan was at the centre of one of the soap's most iconic moments: the 2007 Christmas special where Lauren exposed her father Max's affair with Stacey Slater. In the episode, a furious Lauren burned footage of the affair onto a DVD and played it for the entire family on Christmas Day.

Since leaving the BBC soap more than 15 years ago, Duggan has pursued an eclectic acting career, landing roles in TV shows such as Rules of Love, Silent Witness, Dates, and The Tunnel: Sabotage. She also appeared in films including Everyone's Going to Die, Between Us, and Maybe I'm Fine.

In April 2020, Duggan revealed she was working part-time at a doctor's surgery, stating that 'being an out-of-work actress doesn’t pay'. Despite this, she continues to keep fans updated on her life, recently posting about her skincare routine and enjoying a 'well-deserved' Pina Colada.
