Novak Djokovic equalled Roger Federer's record of 105 male singles wins at Wimbledon after a four-set victory over Arthur Rinderknech on Centre Court. However, post-match interviewer Annabel Croft delivered what she called "bad news" to the Serbian star, noting that women's legend Martina Navratilova holds the overall record with 120 singles wins at the tournament.
Croft's Message to Djokovic
Croft said: "I'm not sure if you're aware of this, this was your 105th singles win here at Wimbledon. You've actually equalled the great Roger Federer who had the overall record here for singles wins for men's singles. But unfortunately there's a little bit of bad news, Martina Navratilova has 120! So do you have 15 more wins in you here at Wimbledon?"
Balding's Call for Sinner to Share Prize Money
Meanwhile, Clare Balding has suggested that Jannik Sinner should have forfeited a portion of the £3 million prize money he received after winning the Wimbledon title last year. Sinner was two sets down to Grigor Dimitrov in the semi-finals when Dimitrov retired with a torn pectoral muscle, allowing Sinner to progress by default. Balding made the comments on the BBC after Dimitrov's third-round win at Wimbledon this week.
"Sinner should have given him a percentage," Balding said.
Other Wimbledon Updates
The third round of Wimbledon continues today, with Britain's last remaining hope Arthur Fery in action. The 23-year-old, who has suffered from nervous nosebleeds throughout the tournament, has been placed on Court 18 to help calm his anxiety. Grigor Dimitrov vs Matteo Berrettini headlines Centre Court on Saturday, while Frances Tiafoe and Alexander Bublik top the billing on Court 1. Serena and Venus Williams are also expected to play doubles if Serena can recover from a knee injury.
