Dennis Haskins, best known for playing the put-upon head teacher Richard Belding in the beloved 90s sitcom Saved By The Bell, died on Sunday September 27 at the age of 75.
His longtime agent Jay Schachter confirmed the sad news with a moving statement.
Agent's tribute
"It’s a tragic loss," Schachter said. "Everyone loved Mr. Belding and those of us who got to know Dennis loved him even more. He was a great person, and he loved, I mean absolutely LOVED his fans. He always had time for them, no matter what. He was my client and dear friend for over 20 years, and I will miss him terribly. I’m heartbroken," he told Variety.
No cause of death has been revealed, but several reports indicate the star had been fighting a private battle with Parkinson’s Disease in recent years.
Final role and retirement from public life
His last acting role came in 2020’s A Bennett’s Song Holiday. He had retreated from public life and from social media in the past few years.
