He described a tough treatment plan involving chemotherapy, surgery, and further chemotherapy, but expressed optimism due to the cancer not having spread.

Posting on X, Kelly wrote about his month-long silence, explaining he had undergone four rounds of chemotherapy, each followed by hospitalization due to side effects. After the last chemo session, he experienced internal bleeding from the shrinking tumor and previously unknown ulcers. He credited two of Ireland's top gut surgeons for saving his life and described his condition as 'life and death.'
Kelly stated, 'Now I'm home again. Weak as a kitten but grateful again for all of your support. I've got a long road ahead, recovering from multiple downturns, to be ready for my next op.'
