Courteney Cox Fans All Say Same Thing as 90s Photos Resurface

Courteney Cox fans have all been left saying the same thing about the beloved star after a string of photos from the 90s resurfaced. Perhaps best known for her starring role as Monica Geller in the phenomenally popular sitcom Friends, Courteney Cox remains a successful actor and producer to this day.

Early Career and Rise to Fame

The mum-of-one, who turned 62 on June 15, first stepped into the limelight in 1984 after being chosen from a casting call to appear in Bruce Springsteen’s music video for the song “Dancing in the Dark.” In it, Cox is famously pulled onstage at the St Paul Civic Center to dance with Springsteen. She went on to star in adverts, television shows, and films throughout the mid to late 80s and early 90s. In 1987, Cox was cast in a recurring role opposite Michael J Fox in the NBC comedy series Family Ties, where she played Fox’s character’s girlfriend, Lauren Miller. She appeared in 20 episodes of the show until 1989.

Landing the Role of Monica Geller

In 1994, after becoming established in the industry, she was asked to audition for a new sitcom, Friends. Originally, producers had her in mind for the character of Rachel Green, a rich and spoiled young woman who runs out on her wedding and decides to finally make it on her own without her family’s financial support. But Cox resonated more with Monica Geller, the lovable neat-freak and chef who acts as the glue holding the friendship group together. She was given the part, and the rest, as they say, was history. In one of the most popular story arcs, Cox’s Monica goes on to marry fellow friend Chandler Bing, perfectly played by Matthew Perry.

Global Fame and Iconic Status

The cast of Friends were catapulted to worldwide fame and fortune over the course of the show’s 10-year run. They went on to become the highest-paid TV actors of all time, earning $1 million per episode for the final two seasons of Friends. It is still regarded as one of the best and most successful sitcoms in history. Throughout the show, the sets became iconic, and Monica’s distinctive purple apartment, supposedly based in Greenwich Village in New York City, was one of the main backdrops for countless storylines. The fashion and styling of the characters, particularly the three female leads Cox, Jennifer Aniston, and Lisa Kudrow, still serve as inspiration for fashion devotees and aficionados alike.
