Coronation Street actor Sam Aston, who plays Chesney Brown on the ITV soap, has announced that he and his wife Briony are expecting their fourth child. The couple shared the news on social media with a humorous video showing their children being pulled across the floor by their father.
The clip featured their youngest child, two-year-old Hazel, being dragged into the shot while holding an ultrasound scan picture of her soon-to-be sibling. The video was captioned: "Here we go again… baby Aston #4," with a Christmas tree emoji hinting at a December due date. The upload was set to House of Pain's 'Jump Around'.
Sam and Briony are already parents to Sonny, five, Daisy, four, and Hazel. They married in 2019 in Cheshire, having met as teenagers. Sam has been a mainstay on Coronation Street since 2008, while Briony works as a birth doula and yoga instructor.
Briony has since revealed she is scaling back her work commitments due to the pregnancy. On Instagram Stories, she wrote: "Now we’ve announced our news to the world, you can see why I’ve closed my books for mid-October onwards for in-person doula support." She added that being heavily pregnant while attending births is impractical and that she needs to protect her own headspace.
Fans and fellow cast members were quick to congratulate the couple. Actress Sally Ann Matthews wrote: "I was literally thinking about you yesterday and whether you’d have any more! Congratulations to you all!!!!!" Another follower commented: "Brilliant announcement! Huge congratulations!!"
