Coronation Street Star Hayley Tamaddon Welcomes 'Miracle' Baby After Being Told She'd Never Conceive

Former Emmerdale and Coronation Street actress Hayley Tamaddon has given birth to her first child, a baby boy, after being told she would never conceive. The 42-year-old announced the happy news on Twitter, sharing an adorable photo holding her baby's hands and writing: 'He’s here. He’s incredible. And we are besotted.'

Tamaddon, who played Del Dingle in Emmerdale and Andrea Beckett in Coronation Street, received a flood of congratulatory messages from former co-stars. Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, replied: 'Welcome to the best club in the world. Congratulations.' Fellow Corrie star Julia Goulding, who is also pregnant, said: 'So so happy for you both! Sending so much love.' Sally Dynevor, known as Sally Webster, tweeted: 'Oh Hayley congratulations xxxx'

The actress had revealed her pregnancy in April, expressing disbelief at the news. 'I've always wanted to be a mum and didn't think I could have children. And now, at the ripe old age of 42 - I'M PREGNANT! We couldn't be happier,' she told fans. She had previously opened up about her heartbreaking fertility battles, revealing she had been told since her teens that she had trouble with her ovaries and had suffered from ovarian cysts.

Tamaddon said she had tried to make peace with not becoming a mother at age 40, but after a miscarriage, she realised she could get pregnant. She and her partner Adrian, who got together in 2017, had even discussed adoption. 'I said, 'Look, I can't have kids, I don't think it's going to happen for me.' He said, 'That's OK, maybe we could adopt in the future?' And I thought, 'Yes we could'. Again, I thought it won't happen,' she said.
