Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has responded to questioning over the potential of having a second big soap wedding, while also teasing an arrival for her on-screen family.
The actress, who hails from Salford, returned to the ITV soap last year, also filmed in Salford, as she was seen reprising the role of Eva Price, after seven years away, in scenes aired back in October. It was confirmed at the time that Catherine's return would be on a full-time basis, as Eva would be back to head up the Rovers Return with her new family after Eva's partner, Ben Driscoll, secretly bought her the beloved boozer before revealing all by returning her to Weatherfield from Hull.
Driscoll-Price drama ahead
The Driscoll-Price clan have been at the centre of plenty of Weatherfield drama ever since, and Catherine recently teased that there is more on the way. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News and other press, Catherine confirmed: "There are a couple of storylines coming up that, again, the family are at the forefront. And if Eva thinks her family is in any kind of jeopardy, which, for one of the storylines, they certainly are, she turns into mafia wife-style.
"She will do anything to defend her family and that's what I love about her. She will literally do anything... It's my belief that if she had to kill for her kids, if she was pushed that far, you know, she would. So I think it's an interesting part of her personality. She's a very, very strong character."
Wedding hopes and a new arrival
But it seems the soap star is also hoping for happier times ahead, as she was quizzed on whether she'd like Eva to have another soap wedding, with her last taking place back in 2017. But it wasn't a day of love, as it was all about revenge. After discovering Aidan's affair with Maria Connor, a pregnant-pretending Eva planned to ruin him. It all kicked off when Maria told love cheat groom Aidan at the alter that Eva had been faking her pregnancy with scans printed off the internet, before it resulted in a wedding day showdown for the two women outside the beautiful venue, Knowsley Hall in Merseyside.
Eva raced after Maria and growled, "I'm gonna have you", before shoving her into the fountain at the wedding venue. The drama soon turned into hilarity as the pair were seen battling it out in the water, Eva still in her lavish wedding gown. And the eventual outcome? The marriage did not go ahead, and Eva and Aidan split up.
On the potential of Eva getting another big day with Ben, Catherine said: "Is the Pope a Catholic? We speak about it often. Even in scenes sometimes, I play that with him. If anyone's talking about marriage or engagement, she's like, 'mmm, mmm'! I think it would be amazing to see Eva finally get married and have a huge, fabulous wedding with all the extended Irish family there. Can you imagine? I mean, it would probably be carnage, but it'd be wonderful."
She has also asked about the potential of Ben's brother, Finlay, appeared on the cobbles after previous mentions. "I think that would be really interesting and it's something that Aaron [McCusker, who plays Ben] and I have spoken about before," Catherine shared. She added: "Absolutely, why not? Let's throw another one in! It just makes things more and more interesting."
