Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) was pushed down the stairs by Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) in Wednesday's Coronation Street, leaving her unconscious on the cellar floor. Sam watched on in horror, but spoiler pictures suggest Eva survives the attack.
Eva's fate revealed
Pictures from next week's episodes show Eva awake in a hospital bed with her family around her, and later standing outside the Rovers. Unless things take a sudden turn, Eva looks set to avoid being killed off.
In Friday's instalment (September 25), Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) stumbles across Eva lying lifeless at the bottom of the stairs after being directed to the pub by Sam. However, when Debbie goes outside to get help, she gets confused, and Eva is left in the cellar until Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) arrives and calls an ambulance.
Who's to blame?
Tonight's episode revealed Sam as the one who pushed Eva, but he doesn't seem to be the main suspect as DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) begins the investigation next week. While a worried Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) sits at Eva's hospital bedside, Kit questions Debbie and Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) about Eva's injuries.
Carl tells the truth: he offered to help Eva clean up as she wasn't feeling well. But when Debbie asserts that she wants to buy Eva some flowers and Carl pulls out a wad of cash, Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) and Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) suspect he might have robbed the pub and accidentally pushed Eva.
Later in the week, Carl is taken in and questioned by police again, but he continues to protest his innocence. When Ben tells Kevin that the police have no idea who attacked Eva, someone finally confesses to the attack – but is it Sam telling the truth, or could someone else be trying to protect him?
