Wayne Rooney has shared a touching tribute to his wife Coleen on her 40th birthday, posting a collection of photos on Instagram that included a throwback snap from their younger years, wedding day pictures, and family shots with their four children. The former Everton and Manchester United star captioned the post: 'Happy 40th Birthday to the best wife and mum we could wish for. We can’t wait to celebrate with you and love you all the world.'
Coleen, who recently finished as runner-up on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, has spoken about her excitement for the milestone. 'I’m looking forward to it,' she said. 'I love a birthday and a celebration. I have decided to enjoy a couple of different celebrations with family and friends over the year.'
The couple's love story began when Coleen was 12 and Wayne was 14; they shared their first kiss behind a church at age 16. Wayne proposed at a BP garage forecourt in 2003 when he was 18 and Coleen 17, and they married in a lavish ceremony in Portofino, Italy, five years later. They have four sons: Kai, 16, Klay, 12, Kit, 10, and Cass, eight.
Birthday wishes flooded in from celebrities including former boxer Tony Bellew, ex-footballer Robbie Keane, and Coronation Street star Andy Whyment. Coleen is reportedly planning a large celebration at the family's Cheshire mansion, with guests including Wayne's former teammates Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and Darren Fletcher, as well as Coleen's WAG friends Annie Kilner and Abbey Clancy.
