Cillian Murphy has become an internet meme once again after his 'resting bored face' during Taylor Swift's discussion about her engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce on The Graham Norton Show went viral.
The Oscar-winning Oppenheimer actor, 47, appeared alongside Swift, 35, on the BBC sofa on Friday night. While Swift excitedly showed off her diamond ring, reportedly worth between $700,000 and $1 million, viewers focused on Murphy's expression, which suggested he'd rather be elsewhere.
Social media users joked about his demeanour, with one writing on X: 'Resting bored face. I get it, Cillian.' Another added: 'Cillian’s social battery is always at 10 per cent.' Others quipped: 'He’s one of us' and 'Someone get poor Cillian off that couch.'
This is not the first time the Irish star's unamused expressions have gone viral. At the 2024 Golden Globes, where he won Best Actor for Oppenheimer, fans joked he 'looked like he was hating every single second.'
Murphy was on the show to promote his new film Steve, while Swift discussed her album The Life of a Showgirl. When host Graham Norton asked Swift about wedding plans, she replied: 'You’ll know. I want to do the album stuff first.'
Fans defended Murphy, noting his subdued reactions are part of his charm. Swift recalled meeting Murphy and his family at an Oscars party, spotting his 17-year-old son Aran in the audience. Norton commented: 'Oh my God, he is so Cillian Murphy style.'
