Channel 4 has announced the recommission of TFI Friday Unplugged for six additional episodes following a successful debut series. The show, hosted by Chris Evans, has been praised for its mix of celebrity interviews, live music, and humor.
Chris Evans Reacts to Recommission
Presenter Chris Evans expressed his excitement, exclaiming, "Yee haa, we've been recommissioned!" The original TFI Friday was a major hit in the 1990s, and Evans revived it this year as a podcast with Virgin Radio UK before Channel 4 acquired six episodes, bringing the show back to its original home.
Strong Performance and Viewer Praise
The broadcaster noted that Unplugged "delivered a clear uplift for Channel 4 at 11pm, performing strongly with under 34s and proving competitive with commercial rivals in late peak." Viewers have been enthusiastic, with one Instagram user saying, "We are loving watching every week." Another fan commented, "I have to say that @chrisevanstfi is the best presenter and show maker in the last 30 years! Genius." Some viewers have requested an earlier time slot, with one suggesting, "Love it but even better if on live at 6…"
Commissioning Editor's Statement
Cimran Shah, commissioning editor at Channel 4, said: "Unplugged delivered exactly what we'd hoped for - great guests, brilliant music, unpredictable moments and a strong response from younger audiences. We're thrilled to be bringing it back for another six episodes and can't wait to see where Chris takes it next."
TFI Friday Unplugged airs on Channel 4 on Fridays at 11pm and is also available on Channel 4 YouTube and streaming platforms.
