Presenter Chris Evans expressed his excitement, exclaiming, "Yee haa, we've been recommissioned!" The original TFI Friday was a major hit in the 1990s, and Evans revived it this year as a podcast with Virgin Radio UK before Channel 4 acquired six episodes, bringing the show back to its original home.

The broadcaster noted that Unplugged "delivered a clear uplift for Channel 4 at 11pm, performing strongly with under 34s and proving competitive with commercial rivals in late peak."
