Channel 4 Orders Six More TFI Friday Unplugged Episodes

Channel 4 has delivered a major announcement regarding the future of TFI Friday Unplugged. The broadcaster has confirmed it is commissioning the popular series for an additional six episodes following the programme's triumphant debut run, reports the Mirror.

Chris Evans Reacts to Recommission

Host Chris Evans was evidently delighted by the news, declaring: "Yee haa, we've been recommissioned!" The original TFI Friday programme, which was fronted by Chris, proved a massive success during the 1990s, and this year the presenter revived it as a podcast format alongside Virgin Radio UK.

Earlier this year, Channel 4 revealed it had secured six episodes of the programme, bringing the legendary entertainment format back to its original broadcasting home. Featuring its blend of celebrity interviews, live musical performances, and comedy, the Unplugged series has proved a triumph, with the broadcaster stating it had "delivered a clear uplift for Channel 4 at 11pm, performing strongly with under 34s and proving competitive with commercial rivals in late peak."

Viewer Praise

Audiences have heaped praise upon the revival, with one viewer sharing on Instagram: "We are loving watching every week. Me and hubby now old enough to remember all the old clips too. One recommendation/move it to straight after Gogglebox!!" Another viewer declared: "I have to say that @chrisevanstfi is the best presenter and show maker in the last 30 years! Genius," while one fan branded the programme "great stuff." "I have missed this," commented someone else, accompanied by a heart emoji.

"Missed this show, been so good to have it back," commented another delighted viewer, while one individual suggested a shift to an earlier time slot than 11pm, posting: "Watching it now. Love it but even better if on live at 6..." One fan penned on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Chris has always been a master at it!"

Channel 4's Statement

Cimran Shah, commissioning editor at Channel 4, said as the show's future was confirmed: "Unplugged delivered exactly what we'd hoped for - great guests, brilliant music, unpredictable moments and a strong response from younger audiences. We're thrilled to be bringing it back for another six episodes and can't wait to see where Chris takes it next."

TFI Friday Unplugged airs on Channel 4 on Fridays at 11pm and is also available on Channel 4 YouTube and streaming.
