Bianca Censori Defends Kanye West as 'Awesome Dad' Amid Kim Kardashian's Claims
Bianca Censori, the wife of Kanye West, has robustly defended her husband against accusations from his ex-wife Kim Kardashian that he is not actively involved in their children's lives. In a revealing interview with Vanity Fair, Censori described West as an "awesome dad" who would "build worlds" for his four children with Kardashian.
The Co-Parenting Conflict
Kardashian and West, whose marriage ended in 2021, share four children: North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6. Their co-parenting relationship has been notoriously turbulent, with private disputes frequently spilling into public view. These conflicts have included disagreements over Kardashian allowing North on TikTok and West featuring their daughter on a track with Diddy following his professional downfall.
West, who has bipolar disorder, has previously denounced what he called the "Kardashian mob" for allegedly limiting his involvement with the children. Conversely, Kardashian claimed on her podcast last year that West had gone "a couple months" without calling the children. She argued on her reality show that his assertions she was "keeping the kids" were "not true and not rational," stating he had "never once called and asked" to see them.
Censori's Defense of West's Parenting
Censori, an Australian architect seventeen years West's junior who bears a striking resemblance to Kardashian, provided specific examples to counter these claims. She recalled an instance where West left a photoshoot she was participating in to spend time with the children at home.
"I remember one time they came over and he made the whole room foam so they could jump on everything," Censori shared. "It’s really cute, especially if you’re a little kid - a tiny, short little bub."
She emphasized West's creative and dedicated approach to fatherhood, portraying him as deeply engaged and affectionate with his children.
Kardashian's Persistent Concerns
Despite Censori's defense, Kardashian painted a contrasting picture during an October appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. She stated that West sees the children "whenever he'll call for them and ask," but noted, "It's probably been a couple months since we've heard from him."
The reality television superstar expressed frustration with the narrative that she prevents West from seeing their children. "I've never once done that," she insisted, revealing she had considered publicly sharing text messages to disprove the claims. Kardashian described waking up to tweets accusing her of kidnapping the children, calling the situation "very confusing."
On an episode of The Kardashians that aired the same month, she reiterated that West had "never once called and asked" to see the children, but stressed, "It's a divorce, not a kidnapping." Interestingly, by December, the former couple appeared to reconcile amicably to celebrate Christmas with their children, suggesting moments of cooperation amidst the conflict.
Addressing Fashion and Marriage Rumors
In her Vanity Fair interview, Censori also addressed the intense speculation surrounding her controversial, revealing outfits, which have garnered global attention since she secretly married West in 2022. She denied rumors that West pressures her into these ensembles, asserting they collaborate on her looks.
"I wouldn’t be doing something I didn’t want to do," Censori stated firmly. "Me and my husband would work on my outfits together. It was like a collaboration, it was never: 'I was being told to do something.' If you were married to Gianni Versace, wouldn’t he give you a dress or something?"
She further dismissed claims that she married West for fame, declaring, "I didn’t marry my husband because I wanted some sort of platform. I married him because I love him. Is that like the corniest thing ever?" While acknowledging her status as a "nepo wife" famous by association, she discussed the challenges of having her image constantly scrutinized and replicated without consent.
Censori admitted to "an obvious obsession with nudity," describing how she "was naked everywhere" and lives her artwork. She suggested that her approach has created a unique mystique, stating, "If it was just nudity, a lot of people would have that. But it also proves in a time that was so overexposed and vulnerable, that mystery still has power."
Marital Struggles and Rehabilitation
Her remarks follow reports from a source alleging that Censori had attempted to leave the marriage multiple times. The insider claimed the couple reconciled only after West sought treatment at a Swiss rehab facility to manage his bipolar disorder.
"Bianca had been very unhappy in their marriage for a while and tried to get out a number of times," the source told People. "When he's not in a good space mentally, he tends to create so much drama, which then has lasting consequences. When he reaches a more stable place, he becomes very aware of the damages he's caused his family, friends and himself."
West publicly addressed his treatment in Switzerland in a recent Wall Street Journal advertisement, where he also apologized for past antisemitic remarks. These outbursts, which included praise for Hitler and threatening language toward Jewish people, led to a severe career and financial decline, with his billion-dollar fortune significantly diminishing.
The ongoing public dispute highlights the complex dynamics of high-profile co-parenting, mental health challenges, and media scrutiny, with Censori's defense adding a new layer to the narrative surrounding West's personal life.
