Celebs Go Dating Pays Tribute to Mike Thalassitis After Death

Celebs Go Dating viewers were left in tears on Sunday night as the E4 show paid tribute to Mike Thalassitis, just a day after the 26-year-old's death was announced. The episode was dedicated to the Love Island star, who appeared on the dating show in February 2018.

At the end of the episode, a photo of Thalassitis appeared on screen with the words 'In memory of Mike Thalassitis 1993-2019.' The Metropolitan Police confirmed that his body was found on Saturday morning in Edmonton, North London, with the death not being treated as suspicious.

Viewers took to Twitter to express their emotions, with one writing: 'Gosh I’m in actual tears at that tribute.' Another said: 'So nice to see that @CelebsGodating did a tribute to @Mikethalassitis tonight R.I.P angel x.'

Prior to the broadcast, Celebs Go Dating bosses released a statement on Twitter saying they were 'shocked and saddened' by the news and offered condolences to his family and friends. Thalassitis had appeared on the show alongside stars such as Talia Storm, Gemma Collins, and Sam Thompson.

Reports suggested that Thalassitis had been struggling with debt and the recent death of his grandmother, for whom he had been a full-time carer. His aunt Laura Goldsmid said the family was 'in shock' following the tragic news.
