Mark Wright's mother has provided a health update after suffering a painful fall that left her in 'terrible pain'. Carol Wright, known for appearances on The Only Way Is Essex alongside her son Mark and daughter Jess, discussed the incident on the latest episode of the Wright At Home podcast.
Details of the Fall
Carol explained that she fell while looking after her grandchildren, trying to prevent them from jumping into a swimming pool without life jackets. She recounted: 'I had to walk backwards to get to the fridge to get another red ice lolly, and I walked right into a big wooden toy box. I think I've cracked my ribs... I know I've cracked my ribs because I know the pain.'
Living with Osteoporosis
Carol also spoke about her struggle with osteoporosis, a condition that weakens bones and makes them more prone to fractures. 'I've broken nearly every bone in my body, I do suffer with osteoporosis,' she said. According to the NHS, osteoporosis develops slowly and is often only diagnosed after a fall or impact causes a break.
Carol noted that doctors told her there is little they can do aside from prescribing strong painkillers, adding: 'That's why I look a bit dosed up today. I'm in terrible pain.'
Family and Fan Support
Carol and her husband Mark Wright Senior, known as Big Mark, welcomed their fourth grandchild last year when Mark and his wife Michelle Keegan had daughter Palma. The couple also have three other grandchildren from their children Jess and Josh.
Fans expressed sympathy on Instagram after a clip of Carol's admission was shared. Comments included: 'Oh Carol I've fractured a couple of ribs... it was sooo painful. Wish you better' and 'Aw I feel your pain... take it easy n hope u feel better soon.'
