Former Love Island star Camilla Thurlow has shared a devastating health update regarding her daughter. Camilla revealed that her four-year-old daughter, Nora, has been suffering from "seizure-type events."
Nora's Health Struggles
Nora, who Camilla shares with her husband and former Love Island hopeful Jamie Jewitt, was diagnosed last year with autism and is non-verbal. Since the diagnosis, Camilla has continued to keep her followers on Instagram updated with the youngster's condition while also raising awareness.
In a recent post, Camilla said: "We felt we should update you on what's been happening and why we've been a little quiet lately. Nora has started to experience some seizure-type events alongside an increasing number of unexplained falls."
Camilla's Emotional Message
Sharing a sweet video of her daughter smiling, Camilla wrote: "Nora's greatest skill is her ability to communicate exactly who she is without any need for words. That's why everyone who meets her ends up with a soft spot for her, touched by the openness of her beautiful smile and her gentle soul."
She continued: "We've seen that not only in the real world, but here too, where we feel incredibly lucky that so many of you have met her with love, understanding and joy.... She was referred and seen within weeks by a lovely NHS paediatrician and will have an EEG as soon as possible."
Camilla added: "Naturally, we've been processing the worries that come with not knowing what the answers might be. In the meantime, though, we wanted to reassure you that, for the most part, she is her usual happy self."
"Understandably, she's a little more cautious at the moment and seeking lots of connection, but she is absolutely surrounded by love and support from her sister and brother, our family and friends, and especially her nursery. We are incredibly grateful for the way they have created such love, safety and security for her during these moments, and for their detailed recording of events, which I'm sure played a huge part in Nora receiving such a prompt referral."
Family Support and Advocacy
Camilla noted that while Nora faces these challenges, others do too. She said of the youngster: "She lights up our world and brings happiness to everyone who knows her, and wherever she goes, we will follow."
Nora is one of three kids Camilla and Jamie share after meeting on Love Island in 2017. They are also parents to Nell and Brodie. The couple tied the knot in 2021.
Camilla recently met with Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss the Government's planned special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) reforms. In February, she shared information from their meeting online. The Prime Minister addressed the timeline for the changes, explaining that the Government is building new architecture around the current setup. However, the proposed improvements will only be fully launched when the new system is in place, tried, and tested.
