Her fiancé, Sam Asghari, 27, responded with five "shocked face" emojis, further fuelling speculation. While some followers believed Spears was hinting at a new pet, others suggested she was simply trolling her audience. One fan commented: "Queen of trolling the internet."
Spears, who turned 40 earlier this month, recently posted a heartfelt message for her two sons, whose birthdays fell last week. She wrote: "My boys' birthdays were last week… and unfortunately they are growing up and want to do their own things… I have to ask their permission to post them because they are extremely independent little men."
