British and Irish talent shone at the 2026 Actor awards, the newly renamed ceremony formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards. The event, held in Los Angeles, saw wins for Jessie Buckley, Catherine O’Hara, and Michael B Jordan, among others.
Jessie Buckley won best lead female actor for her role in Chloé Zhao’s period drama Hamnet, adding to her previous Bafta and Golden Globe wins. The late Catherine O’Hara, who died in January, was posthumously awarded for her performance in The Studio, with co-creator Seth Rogen accepting on her behalf to a standing ovation.
Michael B Jordan took best lead male actor for his dual role in the vampire thriller Sinners, beating favourite Timothée Chalamet. The film also won the big screen ensemble award, with Delroy Lindo accepting on behalf of the cast. Sean Penn won best supporting male actor for One Battle After Another, while Amy Madigan surprised as best supporting female actor for Weapons.
In television, The Studio dominated the comedy categories, winning three awards including comedy ensemble and best male actor for Seth Rogen. The drama ensemble award went to The Pitt, with star Noah Wyle also winning best male actor in a drama series. Owen Cooper, at 16, became the youngest winner of best male actor in a limited series for Adolescence, while Michelle Williams won best female actor in a limited series for Dying for Sex.
Harrison Ford received the life achievement award, presented by Woody Harrelson, who called him “a true renaissance man”. Ford joked the prize was for “being alive” and expressed gratitude for the honour.
