Brooklyn, who now resides in the United States with his actress wife Nicola Peltz, daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz, outlined his desire to distance himself from his family in a detailed six-page Instagram statement in January. The statement contained serious allegations against his parents, accusing them of prioritizing public branding over genuine family relationships.

In his lengthy statement, Brooklyn claimed his parents had attempted to sabotage his marriage and controlled media narratives about the family for years. He added that he had witnessed "the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade." Notably, Brooklyn did not appear in his mother Victoria's recent Netflix docuseries, nor did he attend the October premiere. He and Nicola were also absent from David's 50th birthday celebrations last May and missed the former footballer's investiture at Windsor Castle on November 4.
