Bay City Rollers guitarist Neil Henderson has died at the age of 73. The band announced his death in a statement, describing him as "our original lead guitarist, songwriter and friend."
Band's tribute
The statement continued: "We are sorry to have to announce the death of Neil Henderson, our original lead guitarist, songwriter and friend." It added: "Neil had been ill for some time and was fighting to recover from a stroke a few years ago."
The band also expressed condolences to Henderson's family: "We wish to send our sincere condolences to Heather and Shona, his two daughters, and all his family and friends. His memory will live on with all who had the pleasure of sharing the stage with him as will his music."
Family's words
One of Henderson's two daughters, Shona, said he left the Bay City Rollers shortly after the release of their second single because he was unhappy with the band's musical direction. She added that his love of music remained a constant throughout his life.
