Ashley Dommett, a former groom on the popular E4 dating series Married At First Sight UK, has been inundated with messages of support after publicly addressing his decision to skip the show's recent reunion episode. The reality star, who appeared in Series 10, was notably absent from the fiery 2026 reunion special that aired on Sunday, March 1, which brought together nearly all the cast members, now mostly exes, for a final dinner party.
Reunion Episode Highlights Absences
The one-off reunion episode featured the cast of MAFS UK's tenth season, with only one couple, Abigail Lindsay and John Shepherd, remaining together today. Among the missing stars were Ashley Dommett and his ex-bride, Grace Law, whose relationship was marked by misunderstandings and conflicts during the show. The pair struggled to connect on various levels, including their sense of humour and personal views, leading to multiple rows and their eventual separation.
Their tumultuous journey included skipping the home stays week, where couples spend time with each other's friends and family, and failing to attend the final commitment ceremony. Later, they were brought back separately to discuss their perspectives with the show's experts on what went wrong in their relationship.
Conflicting Perspectives on the Show
Grace Law revealed during the series that she felt Ashley was quick to deflect whenever she tried to speak about their issues, saying, "I lost my voice almost, I didn't feel confident in what I was saying." In contrast, Ashley alleged that Grace labelled him a "misogynistic, not great guy," adding, "I felt like there's not much more I can do here to get her to see who I am."
Ashley's Statement on Instagram
In a lengthy video posted to Instagram on March 3, Ashley Dommett opened up to his followers about his decision not to attend any of the reunion episodes, including the most recent one. He explained that while things had initially been "civil" between him and Grace, he later felt he was portrayed as a "monster" on the show.
"The first reunion isn't long after the show, so after dealing with that I was like no, no way. And our story had ended there anyway so there was nothing to add. I genuinely only went on there to meet my person, didn't. Didn't see any benefits in doing the reunion," he said.
Regarding the second reunion, Ashley questioned, "Have I changed as a person? Is it because I've been on telly that I think I'm important, or was that reunion f*****g awful without me?" He concluded, "With the way that everything had gone, my view on it was why on earth would I put myself back into that situation and I just wouldn't. There was no way I was doing it. That's basically it."
Outpouring of Support from Fans and Cast
Ashley's followers quickly shared messages of support in response to his video. Former MAFS UK star Hannah Norburn commented, "Proud of you," while another fan remarked, "I found the reunion stressful to watch, never mind being there! I hope you're feeling a bit more distanced from the drama of it all now." This shows the strong community and empathy among viewers and former participants of the reality series.
All episodes of Married At First Sight UK, including the reunion special, are available to stream on Channel 4's catch-up service, allowing fans to revisit the dramatic moments and relationships from the tenth season.
