While Liverpool endured a challenging season, Ngumoha emerged as a bright spark. The winger scored a dramatic winner against Newcastle United in August, shortly before his 17th birthday, and added another Premier League goal against Fulham in April. The latter strike at Anfield came in only his second league start, prompting Slot to predict a long and successful future for the teenager.
Slot said, "I think I've said a few weeks, maybe months ago, one or two months ago, that his playing time would increase because he got stronger and stronger, showed more and more when he came in, but also in training sessions, that it wasn't only a nice trick, but there was more and more end product to what he did."
He added, "He has such a special quality which you don't see a lot in football anymore: dominating the one-v-one situation. And that's exactly what he did when he scored his goal, making the ball free by twisting and turning and then hitting it in like a Mo Salah finish, I would say."
International Recognition and Transfer Interest
Ngumoha featured 29 times for Liverpool across all competitions and made his England debut in a 1-0 friendly win over New Zealand, earning the player of the match award despite playing out of position on the right flank. He received his first England cap from Jude Bellingham, who praised the teenager's performance. The winger's displays have attracted interest from Bayern Munich, but Liverpool are determined to keep hold of their young star, whom Slot believed would have a long future at Anfield.
